All You Need to Know to Care for Your Beagle November 13, 2007 This book is perfect for beagle owners. If you're a first-time owner or if you've owned beagles in the past, this book has all the information you'll need to raise a happy, healthy pet. My family and I recently lost our female beagle to pancreatic cancer. We had her for eleven years and she was a huge part of our lives. I purchased this book right after we brought her home, and it was a big help in explaining how to properly care for her.
We just got another beagle; this time, a male. He's one year old and again, I find myself referring to this fine book for assistance in feeding, crate training, and tips on exercise and general health.
This book is written in a style that is easy to understand for the first-time owner, yet comprehensive enough for more seasoned owners to refer back to. Our beagles have benefitted from the knowledge I gained from reading this fine book.
I recommend this great book very highly. If you're a beagle owner or if you're thinking of becoming one, then pick up this fine book; it will help you raise a happy, healthy friend.
I'm sorry October 19, 2001 23 out of 31 found this review helpful
I hate to be negative but this book was terrible. I am shocked to log on and see such wonderful reviews. This book is very small and has no more information than you can find on the internet. I am a first time Beagle owner and bought this to learn more about the bread, problems and questions I've encountered in my firt weeks of ownership. After reading the whole thing, I came away with nothing new. There is a whole chapter on breeding and a pregnant Beagle but for the average owner, this is not useful. I wish I could return this book it was such a waste of money - and was only a few dollars!

I have read this book and found it most useful for first time Beagle owners. I have 3 Beagles at home at this time, I have 2 spayed and 1 dog, he is a Champion in good standing with the AKC.I am just getting started in breeding Beagles for perserving the breed and would give this book to any of the new owners of my puppies. Beagles are the best!! March 14, 2001 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have a seven year old beagle and have owed him since he was six weeks old. He is the smartest, most fun-loving little fellow I have ever had and is great company. I bought this book soon after I got him and it was a great reference, being this was my first time owning a beagle. If you have a beagle, or are thinking of getting one...buy the book!
it's a good basic book March 7, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought this book because i had just bought a beagle puppy and had no idea what to expect. it was full of factual inforamation (especially on health) that i still use. it's a good basic book and reference. it helped me so much, from bathing to how to prevent food guarding to basic obedience to field trial references in the back...My Muffin is a sweet, well-adjusted, year old beagle now and all i had for a reference was this book. it's time to move up to involved tricks, which this book doesn't cover, though. this book does teach 'sit, stay, come and heel', however. it's a good buy. i'd recommend it more for the new owner, but based on what i learned, i think any beagle owner would benefit.
