Good Resource August 9, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a good resource book to keep around. I picked up some different ways to teach my dog certain things and they seem to work well.
The Loved Dog August 9, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the best book ever written about dogs. I have tried several behaviors and they work. I have a pug-very smart dog. He has responded very well to all of Tamer's suggestions. I have purchased copies to give as gifts. Great Great Book.
Best Yet Training Book for Dogs August 9, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have owned and trained dogs for many years and I have most of the top training manuals. "The Loved Dog" is the best thing to come out in years. Tamar really understands dogs and how their minds work. I tried some of her methods on my own dogs with great success. I highly recommend this book to all dog owners.
Good philosophy, but not new August 6, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I 'read' the CD version of this book and was left with the following thoughts:
1. The reader's voice is so syrupy that it served as a distraction for the entire first CD, until I started to get used to it.
2. Some of the autobiographical information was good, in that it helped the reader to get acquainted with Geller and understand where she is coming from. Other parts of it were unnecessary, but didn't really hurt anything, though I didn't need to know that both of her parents were serial adulterers.
3. I like Geller's positive methods, but they are hardly 'revolutionary.'
4. I liked and learned from the seven basic needs premise.
5. Many things mentioned were good, but they really needed to be addressed in more depth.
6. Several things Geller says seem to contradict each other.
I found this to be an OK book, but nothing in it was new or exciting to me.
The Loved Dog: The Playful, Nonaggressive Way to Teach Your Dog Good Behavior August 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an incredible book and everyone should give it a try. Even for older pets .. Truly you can teach an old dog new tricks. Don't give up on your crazy puppy until you have tried this book and its teaching methods. 5 BIG STARS
