Everything about Canine Body Language May 20, 2007 Brenda Gadd (Kansas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Maybe too much for the casual dog owner, this book has everything those of us who are dedicated canine lovers need to know. Very valuable tool for training classes. This book gets down to the sublties in body language. Fascinating.
Getting to Know About Your Dogs - A Much Closer View May 19, 2007 Virginia A. Ede (Sydney, Australia) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
As I am studying to be a "Bowen Therapy Practitioner for Animals" or CCMRT, it is an important requirement for me to better my knowledge about our canine friends. I was recommended to obtain and read a few different titles so as to have a wide coverage of information. After acquiring my first book "Canine Body Language" by Brenda Aloff, I realised just how little I did know about the intricacies of the canine communication, and just how polite their language with each other is. This book opened a whole new world for me and I started noticing the understated communication that my own dogs conducted with each other. I absolutely love this book with all of its photos and explanations. It makes it so much easier to notice what is happening just beneath your nose when it is so subtle. This book is an absolute must for anyone wishing to understand their dog better, and it will certainly lead you to be a much better owner. I would highly recommend it to all animal lovers.

Until we received this book I had not realized how clearly our dog was "speaking" to us. A Picture is worth a thousand words. There are some things that can't be described but a picture says it all.
A Great Picture Book to Enhance our Understanding of Dogs March 24, 2007 Kate Nicoll (Wallingford,CT) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
A great picture anthology of dogs being dogs. This is a very helpful book in that is captures a snapshot of canine emotion to help increase our awareness of dog-dog and dog-human communication. I have often utilized this book in my therapy work with children to help describe emotions. Well-organized by themes with clear photos. Fun and insightful. February 23, 2007 Tamar Brooks (Los Angeles, CA USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I love my dogs and wish they could talk to me. Now I find that I can understand them even though they are not using words. This is amazing. I can read their ear positions. I always knew that it must mean something. Lots to learn here. My daughter says I can't really know that it is true, but rather the conjecture of the author. But her ideas make sense and seem to work in context of the situation.
