5 out of 5 stars More Wisdom from the Dog Whisperer   October 31, 2008

If you are a regular viewer of National Geographic's The Dog Whisperer, Be the Pack Leader will not contain any "new" information for you. Having said this, this book is still a must read for the dog lover as Cesar Millan goes in depth (something he cannot do on the show) on how to be the pack leader in your home.

The concept of "pack leader" is a complex one; one that is antithecal to our modern way of thinking. Yet it is through this relationship with our dog that we are able to communicate and nurture our beloved companions.

You will not only learn much about your dog, you will learn much about yourself after reading this book.

2 out of 5 stars Not for my type of dog   October 30, 2008

I was interested in learning about Cesar's life. I think his advice is good for large agressive dogs but not so much for dog training for small dogs.

A Member of the Family: Cesar Millan's Guide to a Lifetime of Fulfillment with Your Dog

I have several dogs and compete in agility, obedience and Herding. I wasn't sure how much I would get from this book since I have a bookshelf full of dog books. The answer was, I got a lot. I liked this book so much that my relatives with dogs will be getting it for Christmas. It has great information on living with dogs. This book is a must for families with dogs.

This has changed my life not only as a pet owner but also as a leader in society, business, and in my family.

This book has given me a lot of insight. I recently adopted a rescued 4 year old mini schnauzer and although he's very well behaved I still have a lot to learn about what makes him tick! Cesar is amazing and a great teacher and I've really become a better pet parent after reading this book. I've also watched and enjoyed his TV show.
