I read this book and found it very informational, especially where the owner learns to become the head of the pack. A gentle and loving way to teach your dog how to be obedient and learn fun tricks! I would absolutely recommend reading "The Perfect Puppy".

Excellent book. Very helpful and informative. Gets to the point about what you should and should not do. Clear directions (with explanations why) for raising a well behaved happy puppy.

Thank you Gwen Bailey! I am a dog trainer and a volunteer at the local shelter and I am forever being asked for ONE book on puppy training - and now I've found it. This book has a wealth of information including stages of maturity and what to expect, prevention of the most common problems, and best of all a Positive based training method. These are the methods I have been using in teaching my students and they are a real joy - and they work. A must-have book for puppy owners and trainers.

This book is packed with valuable information about puppy development and dog behavior that helps people understand their new friends. You may want to have another training manual handy, however, as several of the author's techniques for teaching basic commands did not work with my puppy. Dogs do not always respond the way Ms Bailey unequivocally claims they will.

Gwen Bailey is a true life saver! Her knowledge of raising and training puppies makes this book an excellent companion for every new puppy owner. Beautifully illustrated, this book offers step by step instructions for everything from housetraining to managing puppy adolescence. Her methods are easy to follow and work for even the most inexperienced of dog owners. Gwen Bailey's The Perfect Puppy is the best dog training book I've read yet! Patty Darrah (darrahjlw@aol.com
