Cesar's a genius July 17, 2008 C. Kortz (Beverly Hills, MI USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my daughter who just adopted a 5 year old Chihuahua, Lulu from a puppymill. I know Cesar's knowledge will be a great help to them because Lulu is afraid of everything. She's never been socialized and will need a lot of patience. My daughter needs training too.
WOW, This stuff really works!!!! July 13, 2008 W. Gonzalez (Atlanta, Ga. USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to admit, I was skeptical about Ceasars methods. No that he could do it, but that we would be able to read a book and get results like on his TV series. I just did not believe, we could make his magic work for us as well. We have 3 Shih Tzus, and they get on very well, but my wife read this book, and they are now a pack :) I never could walk them together on leashes, as a matter a fact I never used leashes. We just went out into the yard and they did thier Business. Well my wife has adpoted Ceasars methods, which include walking the dogs, and exercise as well as affection. It works, even for a simple guy like me who just wants a lap dog :) Page 57 sums up the relationship, I had with my favorite pet. All love and affection. I lost her in a tragic accident, at my own hand. After time, we added two more for a total of 3 Shh Tzu's. I still wanted that "all love and affection" dog Trixie was, but realized I had to take Ceasar's words to heart. From page 57...."please open your mind to the possiblilty that your dog may be missing some of the things she needs to be happy in and fufilled as a dog". Well I opened my mind (with my wifes help :)) and I really beilieve the dogs are happier. That line would be my best advice for anyone to read this book. Open your mind, to what Ceasar is teaching and you will find that with some time and patience this book, his work, will give you a better relationship with your dog or dogs. Thank you Ceasar, you may have saved my marriage as well. LOL :) Bill Gonzalez
I really enjoyed this book July 9, 2008 E. Hietala (Colorado Springs, CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love dogs. I have 3 of them. I am lazy, though, and never walked them because I was tired, I didn't feel like it, I never trained them to walk on the leash without pulling me, etc. I was neglecting my dogs. Then I started to watch Cesar's show. He grilled into me, DOGS NEED EXERCISE!!! I began to feel guilty. I started to walk my dogs. Because they weren't trained by me, they pulled me all over the neighborhood. It isn't very pleasant. I found a dog park, I started taking them. Then I read this book. Cesar says dog parks are fine, but aren't a replacement for daily walks with the pack leader! GRR. More work for me. LOL. Now I'm motivated, reading more books on dog training and considering taking my dogs, one at a time, to obedience classes. They deserve the best I can give them and it won't hurt me any to walk them every day. I just love Cesar's positive attitude and his no nonsense approach to how to look at man's best friend. They're animals! We have to realize they're not people! They deserve the best we can give them, because they give their best to us. I thank Cesar for changing my relationship with my dogs and making me a better dog owner. I recommend this book.
A Must Read for All, Not Just Dog Lovers June 30, 2008 Tania Steel (New Zealand) Cesar's book is a fantastic read! You can apply his logic to not only dogs but family, friends and work. It's all about attitude and how the world around you relates to your energy. Your dog will love for it and you will feel empowered in all aspects of your life. Easy read, a must!!!
Cesar's Way June 26, 2008 Jacqualyn Siegel (Falcon, Co) Cesar's Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems I've been reading his books slowly. I have so many books to read so I'm savoring him. I've enjoyed learning about his background growing up in Mexico and coming to this country to persue his dream and his consequent success. What I've learned I've shared with the rest of the family who find him interesting. Why no one else ever considered the psychology of dogs but Cesar Milan is remarkable. It took a young man growing up on a farm with working dogs to bring his experience and observations to dog training. I'm not even a dog person; I have always lived with cats. Recently I moved in with my daughter and granddaughters. They have a beagle who has a few bad habits that I'm trying to deal with so I began watching Cesar's show. And that's when I discovered this body of little known knowledge and found it fascinating. And then I learned that there were books. I haven't read enough about correcting the problems and I don't know if I will have any support from the rest of the family but I have found discovered a new interest-dog psychology. Thank you Cesar Milan.
