Cesar rocks! June 29, 2006 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is not only the best show on TV on how to be with your dogs, but how to treat people as well. He's simply brilliant.
It makes total sense and it works June 29, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I adopted a dog with issues and have tried modeling what I saw on Cesar's TV show "The Dog Whisperer." It was fascinating to me to read about how he learned about dogs and dog psychology. It makes total sense. So now, after reading the book, I've been able to avoid many of the pitfalls and better establish myself as the pack leader. My dog's behavior and her fear issues have all but disappeared. Fluke? Watch the show... read the book... I don't think so. :)
For me anyway June 27, 2006 7 out of 21 found this review helpful
After about the first 90 pages, I knew a great deal about the authors life, but not much about living with my dog. I just feel that much has been included that was mere background and not really helpful. I did pick up some good ideas. However, that said, his approach is to let them be dogs and owners become the leader of the pack. Unfortunately, I have already elevated my dogs to just below children and don't or won't let them just be dogs, and I don't want to begin acting like their lead dog.
understanding what your dog needs June 27, 2006 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Cesar understands dogs, and truly believes his mission in life is to help us understand them too. In the book he likens our MANY out-of-control dogs to the families on Nanny 911 and their ilk, and he's got a point. Americans have a problem with boundaries, rules, and limitations.
Try out his techniques, and keep an open mind. Watch the video on how to take your dog for a walk, and for heaven's sake show some leadership. Your dog will be happier for it.
Cesar's Way June 27, 2006 8 out of 22 found this review helpful
There are some chapters in the book that have some really good information to think about in dealing with your dog, but the author spends too much "filler time" talking about himself.
