Dog Trainers-Wake Up! August 2, 2006 P. Benson 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
If Dog Trainers do not start educating themselves and stop bickering in their discussion lists, Cesar Millan will leave them in his dust! And so far this is exactly what is happening! The general public is not interested in going to numerous classed to fix the dog problem. You had better get thier attention in class # 1. If you can not fix it easily, and you can, you have lost the average dog owner. DUH!!! Why do you think there there are so many dogs in shelters? Cesar is making it clear that dogs are very simple creatures. Not educated! SIMPLE!!! Read the book and learn!!Self proclaimed dog trainers, get over yourself! Allow someone without a clicker show you another way!!!!
Excellent August 2, 2006 V. Hansen (FL) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is excellent. If you like the TV show you'll love the book. It reads like he talks, personable.
Natural Way - I doubt it! August 1, 2006 keyes (Kentucky) 19 out of 56 found this review helpful
In no way would I recommend this guys book. He sets dog training back 20 years. The only thing he does is put fear of the owner in the dogs mind. The book and his show on TV certainly show this type of technique, the old pull and jerk way. Make your dog submissive and he will be your best friend, I don't think so.
Punchy but realistic. August 1, 2006 S. Hebbron (Leicester UK) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is just one of the most responsible and sensible manuals to Human/Canine reltionships I have come across. It pulls no punches, beats around no bushes. It educates and stimulates. Too many people approach their relationship with their dog from an owner/disciplinarian stance and they expect the dog to just get it, to think like a human and then readily chatise the poor creature when it doesn't get "it"! Mr Millan helps you to think from your dog's perspective without ever suggesting a socially free approach, his approach develops a deeper understanding for both species and as such, the two species have a better relationship and better social responsibility. If you think this sounds crazy then you simply have to give it a shot, believe me it works and it works better and with greater intensity than any training class. It allows you to draft an individual approach while adopting classic techniques and you and your dog will love each other more in the end, really!
At least it was a fast read... August 1, 2006 Mad Max (Mattawan, Michigan USA) 8 out of 20 found this review helpful
I'm probably the only person on the planet who does not appreicate the "Dog Wispererrrrrr." I found the book to be repetitive and IMHO, poorly written and boring. Yes, I am a dog lover.
