Best Training Book Ever! June 17, 2000 Sc B. McKinney (Alton, NY) 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
This book is an absolute must for the person who wants to train their dog and get results without physical correction which may cause trauma, distrust or break the chance for a wonderful bond with their pet. All of the basics are included and the book has excellent explanations and pictures of demonstrations. 5 stars in my book - thank you Paul Owens for taking the time to write this training book!
The best way to learn to train the dog you love June 16, 2000 Gael S. Johnson (Burbank, Calif.) 36 out of 39 found this review helpful
Paul Owens has written a fantastic book on how to train your dog without changing who your dog is. I have trained many dogs, and his approach is by far the most fun, and best. He helps in the process by letting you know why things happen, which helps in the how of changing behaivor. It was incredible to see that dogs can and do learn without all the nasty methods that were taught for so many years as the only way. It is going to be my first present to any friend getting a puppy, and especially to those who adopt a rescue. His methods are great for problem solving and will help owners and dogs have a much more fulfilling relationship.
Before the Dog, Get this book June 14, 2000 Stephenie-M. Hope (California) 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Before you get the Dog, you must get this book. It should be a requirment with any adoption program. It is the best, easy reading book on Dogs and training. Everything that you need in regards to training can be found in the book. I read it like a research book, jumping from topic to topic and before I knew it, I had read the whole book. Excuse the expression but the book is getting a little 'dog eared' from my refering to it and reccomending it to friends. Enjoy!
The Dog Whisperer is a wonderful book April 22, 2000 Dawn E. Griffiths (California) 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
The message in this book teaches you how to train a dog in a nonviolent maner. I know first hand how effective this kind of traning is and how well it works. My puppy Boxer came from a animal shelter and I have trained her with Paul's techniques. The puppy has come a long way in a very short period of time with the help of this book.
Simple Principles to Get Your Dog to Do What You Want April 22, 2000 Josslyn (Los Angeles) 14 out of 17 found this review helpful
I found Paul's book to be the most useful. I bought it and couldn't put it down until I finished it. Now Mabel, my rescue, and I use it as our textbook. His loving approach with a spiritual undertone works. It's not only good for dogs but for the rest of us, too, in other areas of our lives. Good, practical, easy to understand, simple principles and methods. Highly recommend Paul's way. No violence or broken spirits! It's all about love. Afterall, isn't that what we're all looking for?
