Precise and to the point May 25, 2000 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This book is precise and to the point. It gives step by step instructions on how to housetrain your dog using the crate method. I think this is a good book for those dog owners with anything but small breeds. This is not the ideal method for training toy breeds who are unable to "hold it" as long as the larger breeds.
This slim book helped tremendously ! December 27, 1999 37 out of 41 found this review helpful
Bring this book home with your new puppy. Straightforward, easy to follow advice takes the heartbreak out of housebreaking. There are realistic, step-by-step training outlines for every type of household schedule. The best gift you can give to a new dog owner !
This book is guaranteed to work! June 29, 1999 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
As a dog enthusiast and potential breeder I have recommended this book to more people than I can count. If you follow the methods presented here you will succeed with any dog, no matter how old. The only dog that will not be trained is the dog who is physically incapable of being trained.
It worked on a Basset! May 14, 1999 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
I followed the instructions in this book and housebroke a notoriously hard-to-housebreak Basset hound in ... well, okay, it took 10 days. I lent my copy out to another new-puppy owner and it was never returned, so now I'm ordering another copy to refresh my memory for the next puppy in my life.
This Book Is Fantastic! May 4, 1999 41 out of 43 found this review helpful
This book describes why most known methods of housebreaking are ineffective and unnecessary. It describes the psychology behind the method. I trained my dog by this method and must say it worked almost too well. My dog is now 8 years old and has had an "accident" in the house only once in that time due to an illness. I attribute this success to the method discussed in this book as well as to the intelligence of my dog :) . I will say that the first two days are difficult, but after that the dog will understand the 'pen". Try it, it is far less cruel than other methods.
