Good Starting Point March 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We got our first puppy a few months ago and really didn't know where to start as far as how to train her to do tricks for guest. This book really helped with how to get started and how to break things down for your dog.

A Dog Training Encyclopedia November 25, 2006 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
The book contains lots of information, written in a simple, straight forward, plain style. The book is not comprehensive, but it is a good starter and covers a broad assortment of topics. The tricks are rated by difficulty and impressiveness. It even has sections on rehabilitation of troubled dogs. All in all this book is above average and a good value for the money.
Excellent book November 11, 2006 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This book explains very clearly the steps needed to train your dog. I have been using it since we adopted a 2-yr old stray and he is doing great. It helps you to build on different basic commands to acheive more difficult tricks. My dog enjoys the training sessions because he gets the attention a lab loves (and also treats). It allows him to think which keeps him from doing mischevious things for attention. And he is becoming a big ham. This will allow your dog to become a good citizen. It is set up so you can pick and choose the type of tricks, ex. retreiving, sitting, or multiple dogs in the various chapters. Highly recommended. 5 dog biscuits.
Very good buy for dog owners July 10, 2006 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
The book was helpful in the basics of dog ownership. It was well written, my thirteen year old daughter used it to train our adult adopted dogs with in a week.
