excruciatingly bad December 3, 2008 Gregory Mitchell (New York City) I had just read a couple of the Patterson/Roughan books which were trashy and unbelievable but kinda fun in that trashy-unbelievable way (how does Roughan figure in anyway -- does he type?), and I picked this up at the library. Let's just say if a large cockroach (bad foreshadowing vis a vis this book) got onto a computer and typed out some words, it would be better than this astonishingly bad tripe. Page after page, I gasped aloud "This is so terrible." Virtually nothing makes sense, the few red herrings there are pay off less than nothing (or rather they aren't ever even referenced again), the only character with any substance is the "Pencil"-thin society wife, characters arrive and disppear with virtually no sense or payoff. The good news is that it's so bad you can't stop reading it because you can't believe anything is so poorly written. The other good news is that this will take you about three hours, or less, to read. How a reputable publisher could begin to retail something like this for $27.99 is beyond belief.....The only thing you have to be warned about is reading "You've Been Warned."
Very disappointing ending. December 2, 2008 Mom to a great boy (Tennessee) I was very disappointed when I reached the end of this book. It was very easy to read and follow. There were so many interesting and strange things that happened to the main character, that I couldn't wait to have them explained. Only to be left hanging at the end. This book is a waste of time.
Utter garbage. November 30, 2008 Gordon Mcconnell (San Jose, CA United States) I'm a huge James Patterson fan, but this particular book was a complete waste not only of the purchase price, but of the time I spent reading it. Hard to believe that Patterson would sully his great name with such utter garbage.
Adding to the warnings November 20, 2008 BioReader (BC, Canada) I used to like Patterson - his first few Alex Cross novels were great. But this book is awful. Kristin is cardboard and stupid, none of the characters are likable, the events are goofy, and even the sex scenes have no finesse or eroticism. If you haven't bought the book, don't. If you have, well, maybe you can get two bits for it at your next garage sale.
REALLY SCARY November 14, 2008 Sharona (Reno) I found this to be be one scary book. I almost finished it last night. I couldn't though because it was dark. I am a huge fan of Koontz and this read is truly in competition with Koontz's most terrifying. I was sorry to see some of the not so great reviews because I loved the storyline, cast and pace of it. Better read during the daylight.
