3 out of 5 stars At least it had Johnny Depp   June 12, 2008
Well, yes, I do believe there were other actors in this movie--but honestly, who noticed them?

Everybody pretty much knows what it's about, right? Captain Jack Sparrow has been sent to Davy Jones's Locker, and the rest of the good guys have to rescue him, opposed by the rest of the bad guys. There's a lot more stuff going on, but that's the main point.

And that's what was primarily responsible for me not loving this movie.

It starts out who-knows-where with a bunch of people we don't know and couldn't care less about being hanged. Presumably, they're pirates, and the British are cracking down on them. And then Elizabeth Swann is sneaking around, but we have no idea why.

Then there's a meeting with a pirate captain and Will Turner being tortured, which is always fun, and a big fight... but there's still no real point to it.

Finally... finally we get to Jack Sparrow. Honestly, it's not just a fangirly thing. The movie up to this point has been just so busy and inexplicable that I nearly fell asleep. He's in a desert on a ship full of Jack Sparrows, and it's funny, and a clever depiction of an afterlife.

It does pick up from there, with backstabbing and battles and tough decisions. And to tell you the truth, if it had started at that point, I'd probably have given it an extra star.

4 out of 5 stars In jokes   June 7, 2008
Great fun , but don't expect an Oscar winning film . It was never made to be taken seriously , i mean come on ...pirates , Kraken , Davy Jones and Keith Richards ! And no , the plot isn't confusing ! What is it with some of you people , the attention span of goldfish and an inability to follow anything longer or more complicated than a TV advert !! Lots of fun and insane action . The 'in jokes' again . To many to mention as in #1 ,'That dog will never move in a thousand years ' , referring to the ride in Florida and the animatronic dog . The last laugh being that Jack has the map that leads to eternal life ......Florida !! Nice one guys !

4 out of 5 stars Not like the others   June 4, 2008
When I saw this movie at the theaters I was amazed at how boring it was.
But when it was realeased in Bluray I had to buy it beacuse i already owned the others. I dont know why but I seriously enjoyed it more at my house than in the theaters.

This movie is really different than the other pirates maybe becausse its ten times darker than Dead man chest and the even crazier story[ i wont ruin it]

THe movie comes in two discs, one disc with the movie it self and the other is jampacked wih extras, a lot of interesting content especially the bluray exclusive maelstorm which is a interactive extra of how they made the movies' funnest scene.
I rate the movie 3/5 stars
the visuals 4.5/5
and the extras 5/5

P.S wathc after the credits for a really cool scene

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Trilogy! Can't wait for more..   June 2, 2008

I suppose in todays world of failing public education, I can understand why some people had problems with this film. I guess if every little plot point isn't handed to you and explained, you just can't follow along. There is A LOT of plot going on here. Twists and turns galore. And small minded simpletons just can't keep up. What's great about the film is, it stands up to multiple viewings. A lot of films are simple, predictable and boring. They offer nothing to the 2nd and 3rd viewing. For $20 for a DVD, I want to be able to watch it more than once.

My biggest complaint is....WHERE'S THE FREAKING COMMENTARY!?!?!? What a complete rip off to sell a DVD these days without commentery. Especially of this caliber.

4 out of 5 stars Pirates of the Caribbean- At Worlds End   June 1, 2008
Was a great movie, lots of action. Dark and lots of fantasy in the movie that was very entertaining. When you watch the first two, the third sums up all the effort. Worth buying, hope they do another. Loved the way it ended, very surprising indeed. Don't miss it.
