Whatever you do.... read this! May 28, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Please take my advice and whatever you do: 1) DO NOT sit close to the screen or you will have a terrible time trying to see everything that is going on. We had to sit close and it took a lot away from our experience; 2) DO NOT leave until the VERY END. Stay for the credits. I left right at the last scene with Jack and now I'm regretting it! There is a wonderful surprise in store for Will/Elizabeth fans at the very end.
THE TRIOLOGY ENDS,BUT OPEN SEAS FOR 4. May 27, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
"At Worlds End" opens with a public hanging(conducted by E.I.Trading company) ,and the singing of a song that signifies :that its time for all the Pirate Lords too Gather and make a stand.Lord Backette's ambittion too bring Piracy too a end has picked up pace, with Davy Jones' crew hunting down any and all Pirates.Meanwhile the Pearl crew ,Has snuck into Singnopor too begin the gathering ,by retreiving one of the P.Lords(fang)Who doesn't seem too think its worth the trouble:Also they need a ship too rescue Jack. For as it turns out Jack Possess one of the 9 peices of 8 that signifies a P.Lord.Jack's Spirit is trapped in the upside down world of Davy's Jones' Locker-keeping himself company.Adventually The Crew's able too bring Jack & The Pearl back. Now back in the real world the gathering has begun.behind the protection of the ocean fortress of "Ship Wreck City".This is suppose too be a inpenderable fortress, but Beckette feels the fleet he has gathered with the "Dutchman" in the lead will make short work of the Pirates fortress &smaller fleet. He also seems too have a small bonus, for it appears he is being aided by Will:Who is betraying his freinds for his fathers freedom.Meanwhile,The pirates are having a heck of a time agreing too make a stand, but Cap.Barbosa feels the Goddess Colypso will tilt the balance in favor of the Pirtaes once she is free from her human shackeles. She is already among them but who is it Elizabeth ,Tirdora or someone else? The fighting amongest pirates is seattled with the aid of Black Beard,The Code, and electing of a Pirate King. With the Declaration of war,it time for the two sides too meet. The final battle is basically the Flying Dutchman vs The Black Pearl;while everyone just watches.Despite this slight disappointment its a good show(in the way of final conflcits).Who will win and what will be the fate of the Pearls crew. "At Worlds End" ties up all those loose ends left swinging ,in "Dead Mans Chest",but is this the end? Perhappes not with Depp(as read in c.cast news artical) willing too go one more time and movie leaving the opening for say Pirates of the Caribbean:"Fountain of Youth" This film is just what the pirate doctor ordered if your looking for high seas fun.Plenty of Jacks madness,& just plain sillness. It's packed full of betrayal & action. With so much going on and stuff that went on-it could get a little confussing if your not paying attention. Some scenes seem like there playing off of well this happened even ifyou didnt see it happen.R0unding up too a full 5 stars -thanks too the now classic pirate theam music, and great FX- too help carry the story.
Better than Dead Man's Chest, but it's no Curse of the Black Pearl May 27, 2007 83 out of 117 found this review helpful
Sure the story is a bit confusing at times, but that just makes me want to see it again. Johnny Depp lacked a little something in Dead Man's Chest, but he is back in true form here. Orlando Bloom has gotten better in the acting department and it was great to see Geoffrey Rush back as Barbossa. I really thought Keira Knightley pulled off the tough chick thing here and that surprised me. The CGI is incredible and the music will have you moving in your seat. Don't listen to the critics and just have a good time with characters we all love.
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End" is great! May 27, 2007 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End" is great! This is just as great as the last two! The cast led by Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow) is back and is great. The directing by Gore Verbinski (who also directed the first two "Pirates") is great. The story and screenplay by Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio (who also wrote the first two "Pirates") is great. The music by Hans Zimmer (who also did the music to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" (2006) is great. The cinematography by Dariusz Wolski (who also did the cinematography to the first two "Pirates") is great. The film editing by Stephen E. Rivkin & Craig Wood (both who also did the film editing to the first two "Pirates) is great. The casting by Denise Chamian (who also did the casting to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" & Priscilla John is great. The production design by Rick Heinrichs (who also did the production design to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest") is great. The art direction by John Dexter (who was an supervising art director on "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest") & William Ladd Skinner (who also did the art direction to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" & and was an art director for the Caribbean unit on "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl" (2003) is great. The set decoration by Cheryl Carasik (who also did the set decoration to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest") is great. The costume design by Penny Rose (who also did the costume design to the first two "Pirates") & Liz Dann (who also did the costume design to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl") is great. This is an entertaining action-adventure thrill ride that will keep you entertained until the very end.
Better than than the First and the Second one, delivers beyond expectation May 27, 2007 7 out of 16 found this review helpful
(This review refers to the theatrical release only!): How can you top the First One in a sequel saga? If you are Gore Venbinski and have a crew on your ship with stellars like Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom, apparently you can! What a spectacular ride and a trully 21st cntury modern day movie experience! This should pave the way for any future movie adventure. As with any third sequel, the expectation was huge, fortunately the delivery was up to the challenge! Many old characters had their time in spot light; even the unexpectedly funny Mackenzie Crook character and the cute Fox Terrier dog shines in this one even if it is for brief moments.
The cinematography alone is breathtaking! Every character performs to their brilliance and gains their moments to shine! Can't wait for the 4th one! "Sail forth for the deep waters only! O my brave soul, sail further; further further further sail!!"
(By the way, Don't miss the stunning shot at end of the credit. Yes, you can sit through the nice soundtrack till the end credit on screen, it's worth it!)Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
