Good story November 2, 2008 Therese Pantazakos 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is an incredibly quick read. What is it with dog books this year? Anyway, I liked it and will recommend this to Koontz fans and Goldie fans. Oh also fans of "they had it comin'" and beauty isn't always beautiful fans; oh and the "art through inspiration of angels" fans will LOVE this story. Not your typical Koontz so it's safe if he's scared you off before.
Disappointed. October 24, 2008 Elizabeth Smith (Austin, TX USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I own every book Dean Koontz has written. I normally love his books, I get it as a gift everytime a new one comes out. I was excited, as usual to get this book, but in the end I was surprised that this was even written by Dean Koontz. I was very disappointed and if I had to do it over, I would own all of his books, except one. This book is not worth reading, owning, or even using as fire fuel. I'm sorry to say, being one of his biggest fans, but I was sorely let down by this book.
Dog lovers and Koontz fans will treasure this September 12, 2008 Almiralovestoread (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay so I'm a dog lover but Koontz writes the best atmospheric suspense hands down and captures the persona of golden retrievers, making them into the heroes of the story. Amy's adventure is highlighted by the marvelous scenes with her pack of rescued goldens. And Niki is reminiscent of Einstein in Watchers. The plot is far less thrilling than Watchers but still was a very good read. Maybe Dean was a golden retriever in a past life!

More than just another mystery September 2, 2008 H. Bryant Pierpont (Tokyo, Japan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book touches both elements of spirituality and the unique relationships between dogs and humans. It does this while telling a 4-star tale of intrigue and unexpected relationships. I think if you're open to the first two concepts, this book is off the charts. If not, it's "merely" above average. As a dog lover, I'm always fascinated by Koontz' views of human-canine relationships. In this book, he goes beyond the norm, explaining how the 2 species "grow" each other. Anyone who has had a dog touch them and improve their life in all aspects should read this. I think it adds more depth to those experiences. If you're involved in special relationships with dog lovers, this may also be a great book for you. I think it is difficult for folks who aren't dog lovers to understand us. This book may help them. At the very worst, it's a great read.
