READ THIS REVIEW!!! December 7, 2007 AlleyZipZeroSarge (Colorado) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I adopted a 6 month old male mastiff mix. From the time we brought him home he was a little nervous and he became more and more fear aggresive. By the time he was a year and a half I had paid two dog behaviorists, one dog trainer and one dog psychologists and no one came close to helping. Some behaviorists and trainers refused to take on the challenge, one in particular even said I should put him down because he would end up attacking someone. Then a friend told me about Cesar Milan's show and I was hooked from the first show. I bought the book, took notes from the shows, and I used the techniques. I have a completely differrent dog now, we work consistently with him and he's finally a great, well adjusted member of the family. I've read reviews from trainers that say that Cesar's techniques are improper but those are the same kind of trainers that suggested that I give up and put my boy to sleep. Sargeant(my dog) had to trust that I was strong enough to lead him so he wouldn't feel the need to fear. Cesar Milan is a miracle worker!
Cesar knows dogs December 7, 2007 Nila A. Johnson (Charleston, WV) 9 out of 15 found this review helpful
This book wasn't quite what I expected. I expected more instruction on technique, but this book explains the relationship between dog and owner. He is very knowledgeable about human personalities and their impact on a dog's behavior. The information contained in this book should help many person-to-person relationships as well.
Still not enough December 3, 2007 Aquaria (Midwest USA) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
detail, but i enjoyed what was there.I would love to meet Mr.Millan in person. I am sure his energy is incredible, strong and animalistic...ha! But if you need help with your dogs behaviour, the book will help. If you wanted to know more about dogs behavior generally , you will find it here and it will be easy to understand. Intellectual, Mr. Millan is not, but good and intelligent, he is. So, enjoy!
be the pack leader December 3, 2007 E. Sauve (Fort Wayne IN.) 11 out of 22 found this review helpful
diappointed in the book. if you are a watcher of the show, you are familiar with most of the examples he talks about in the book. i bought the book for new information and actual help in being the pack leader. i thought it was going to be more of a step by step kind of aid.
Hail Cesar! December 2, 2007 M. Taplin (Weston-super-Mare, England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar's Way to Transform Your Dog . . . and Your Life I bought this out of interest, I have watched Cesars shows and podcasts, like many long term dog owners I was surprised to find I was more than half way there. I would not have had to call in Cesar for any of my dogs. BUT Cesar explains to you the linkage of dog behaviour to it's various causes. This enabled me to help socialize my little Sheltie with hitherto belligerent dogs in our park walk. Most importantly NOT to get angry at other dogs but to talk to the owners and together get our dogs to socialise.
