| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description German Shepherd dogs have fragile digestive systems, which may lead to soft stool and mal-absorption of the nutrients contained in their food. Rice as the main starch source has been combined with chicken, soy isolate, and egg in an extremely highly digestible diet. In addition, beet pulp, a fiber source may help to reduce the risks of diarrhea. The German Shepherd dog's activity level and sportive temperament put their immune system under stress day after day. They are sometimes known for a natural deficiency in antibodies (IgA) that increases health risks. Mannan oligo-saccharides (yeast extracts) may help to build the German Shepherd dog's natural defenses by increasing the quantity of antibodies and can help to promote the development of beneficial intestinal flora. High concentration of antioxidant vitamins E and C, lutein, taurine, and trace elements such as zinc and selenium, help delay the effects of accelerated cell decay, while supplementation with natural sources of glucosamine and chondroitin helps to protect the joints. German Shepherd dogs have very sensitive skin. A diet deficient in essential nutrients can have an immediate and visible effect on them. Soya oil and fish oil as sources of omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids are combined with zinc, chelated for easier absorption, and vitamins A and C for healthy, supple skin and a shiny coat. MAXI German Shepherd 24 is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for maintenance.

Excellent choice for GSDs April 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have two German Shepherds and have used Royal Canin German Shepherd food for over two years. Earlier I was not a fan of breed specific products but I am very pleased that I tried this food. This is a good match especially for my adult shepherd. He has the classic shepherd sensitive stomach, but digests the Royal Canin very well. My younger shepherd has just changed from Royal Canin puppy formula to this product without any problem. Both dogs have "glow in the dark" coats and their teeth are kept clean by the big crunchy shape of the kibble. (best fed dry or mixed with a little Eagle Holistic canned food for a bit of moisture) The only supplement I use is a teaspoonful of Seapet fish oil on their morning meal. The older dog is certified in mantrailing...the younger dog in training...so they lead active lives and travel alot. It is good to have a food that keeps both dogs eating and feeling well in stressful situations.
