Product Description
The world s most recognizable dog needs no introduction: the German Shepherd Dog remains one of America s most sought-after canine companions and working dogs, revered for its intelligence, trainability and natural beauty. Whether performing as a companion and show dog or serving as a working dog, the German Shepherd impresses dog lovers the world over. This book provides the much-needed factual information about German Shepherd Dogs and their ancestry, character and standard, as well as the proper selection, feeding, training, preventative health care and behavior of the breed. The new owner will welcome advice about preparing for the pup s arrival, housebreaking and preventing puppy problems. In addition to an authoritative, comprehensive text, this book presents over 135 photographs in full color, which prove to be as informative as they are attractive. Helpful hints and important information are highlighted to provide easy access to everything the reader needs to know about life with a German Shepherd Dog from puppyhood to the senior years.

3 out of 5 stars Good GSD guide   September 7, 2008
E. Blood (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
While this book is partially biased towards American bred GSDs it is a good inexpensive reference guide to the breed (I would recommend Fred Lanting's book above this one, but it is more expensive). It is detailed and doesn't get too deep into the breed or the health (it's more like a "GSD for Dummies" book).
