Enlightening and Extremely informative. March 1, 2001 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have had this book for quite some time and would recommend it to anyone looking for extensive information on German Shepherd Kennels of the past and present. It also contains valuable information on health, diseases and how to, all forms of service dogs, Schutzhund, pictures of good hips, bad hips and all hips in between as well as movement whys and wherefores. If I could recommend just one book and no other was available, this would be it. I have been in possession of many books on German Shepherds but this has the most extensive information I've seen in one publication.
The superlative Shepherd book February 6, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the book that any serious Shepherd enthusiast should have on their bookshelf or coffee table. An a to z covering all aspects of the Shepherd, written by knowlegable people and illustrated with photos and drawings, this is an entertaining and informative work, despite being 15 years old. You just want to keep reading it. This is a book format that a British publisher should consider publishing!!

This is the most complete and informative book on the GSD that I own. I love the pictures, both serious and clowning around. I have owned a copy of the book for quite a few years, and return to it again and again. I recommend it for anyone from new GSD owner to old hand. I also need to add that I have owned two of Barwigs' dogs. She truly understands the GSD.
